CRF (Colac Otway) is a lamb processing company that strives to be industry best in supply chain management, lean thinking principles, human resource practices and product innovation. CRF was established in April 2000, in Colac in western Victoria. Just two hours from Melbourne’s CBD, Colac is ideally situated in Victoria’s premier farming country and is just 40 minutes from Victoria’s stunning Great Ocean Road and Surf Coast. CRF is Colac’s second largest employer and is a dedicated supporter of the local region.
CRF was funded by a small group of individuals who were committed to establishing a technologically advanced and sustainable food processing facility in Colac. The organisation is an excellent example of what a good idea and a lot of hard work can achieve for a regional area. Recognising that CRF would be entering an extremely competitive, high cash-flow and capital intensive business it became imperative that the foundations on which the company was to be built would need to be innovative and different.
