ABOUT US - What we do

Proud to be part of a supply chain that delivers the finest quality lamb to dinner plates around the world, CRF is part of a cycle that involves farmers, saleyards, supermarkets and our primary focus- consumers.

Our role in the chain is to process, with our prime partner, Coles, both purchasing and delivering the lambs to us.

When lambs first enter the processing chain, the first task is performed by a practicing Muslim under Halal requirements, which ensures we can export to countries where the religion of Islam is practiced.

Lambs enter the process floor where they are processed to carcass form, which includes removing the skin, head and inner body parts, and refrigerated overnight. Around a sixth of the carcasses from the process floor are loaded into trucks at this point and transported to Coles, while the remaining half enters our Further Processing room to be segmented into smaller meat cuts you would see on the supermarket shelf.

Those smaller cuts are then packed into cartons and transported in an underground tunnel to Otway Fresh, our sister business that co-ordinates the chilling freezing and transport of Coles product.

At CRF, nothing is wasted. Offal and other body parts removed from the lambs on the process floor enter the co-products area. Offal is vacuum packed in plastic, material not fit for human consumption enters the mixed animal material area and is then collected by pet food manufacturers, and the skins move onto CRFs skin salting facility, the winner of the OH&S Conference Innovation Award in 2005.
