CRF (Colac Otway) COLAC SHOW PRIME LAMB COMPETITION 2008
11 am FRIDAY 31st Oct at colac show grounds & 5pm Saturday 1st Nov at CRFAbout the competition Victoria’s only Prime Lamb Competition that is judged on yield; wholesale dollar value; and included for the first time this year skins. By having a category that includes skin prices the best all rounder ‘superlamb’ will be the first place winner. The competition will be hosted by CRF (Colac Otway), together with the Barwon Prime Lamb Group and the Colac Show Society, at this years Colac show. A selection of prime cuts will be assessed including lamb racks, roast legs, loin chops, forequarter chops, other lower-cost cuts and by-products to be assessed including trim, fat and bone, as well as the addition of skin value. Every aspect of the carcase will be measured. The process ensures that there is no room for subjective judging and detailed feedback is provided to the competitors.
11am Friday at the Colac Show:Mark Ingles, MLA, Finishing lamb to optimize meat quality and price. Followed by the Live Lamb Assessment Competition
Presentation Dinner and Viewing:Meet at CRF on Saturday 1st November at 5 pm for the carcase viewing, followed by the presentations and guest speaker at the Colac East Hotel from 6.30 pm.
